Copilot side panel

The LinkAssist Copilot inside Chrome. Chat with the same AI strategist as the web app, next to any page, and write, schedule and publish posts without leaving LinkedIn.

The side panel is the extension's main screen. It is the same Copilot as Copilot in the web app: same User DNA, same memory, same chat history. Open it with the toolbar icon or ⌘/Ctrl ⇧ L, and it stays open while you browse.

Plan requirement

Copilot is included on the 7-day trial, Growth, Premium and Enterprise. On Free and Starter the panel shows a usage notice with a See plans button, and chats that write posts are declined.

1. Chat

  • Type in the composer and press Enter (Shift+Enter for a new line). A Stop button cancels a reply mid-stream.
  • While Copilot works, step chips show what it is doing (loading your context, researching, writing, validating).
  • Every reply has a Copy button. Messages render basic formatting.
  • The mic button dictates into the composer with your browser's speech recognition; you review the text before sending. The first use opens a small tab so Chrome can ask for microphone permission.
  • The panel remembers which chat you had open.

Starter prompts change with the page you are on:

2. The post card

When Copilot writes a post, it appears as a LinkedIn-style card with everything you need to ship it:

ActionWhat happens
Copy / EditEdit inline and save. Edits are saved to your Drafts.
Add imageUpload from your device, generate an AI image, or remove it.
Schedule / ReschedulePick a date and time (up to 30 days ahead).
Publish nowConfirm, then a 30-second Publishing in Ns · Undo countdown. After that: Published · View on LinkedIn, or "Couldn't publish · back in drafts".
Cancel scheduleMoves the post back to Drafts.
Open in editorOpens the post in the web app's All Posts list.

Follow-up chips under the card: Shorten it, Stronger hook, Make it more personal, Schedule it. The status line tells you whether the post is already saved to LinkAssist as a draft.

Publishing safety

Copilot never publishes on its own. Publish and schedule requests show an approval card ("Publish this post to LinkedIn now? … you can still undo") with Not now / Approve. Posts that LinkAssist's risk check flags are held as drafts for you to review in the web app instead of going live.

When Copilot needs a decision it shows numbered choice buttons; clicking one sends it as your next message.

3. Library and chat history

Library (header icon) has three tabs, so the panel can run your whole day:

  • Ideas — today's content ideas from Idea Labs, each with Write this.
  • Drafts — your drafts, each with a schedule button.
  • Scheduled — upcoming posts, with reschedule and cancel.

Chats lists your conversations grouped by Today / Yesterday / Previous 7 days / Older, with search and delete. These are the same sessions as the web app's Copilot sidebar.

4. Using what is on screen

Copilot can look at the page you are on when it helps:

  • Read the page — on LinkedIn it understands the feed (top visible posts), a single post, a profile, an analytics page or a hover card. On other sites it reads the main article text.
  • Screenshot — captures the visible tab when a layout matters.
  • Insert a draft — types Copilot's text into the LinkedIn post composer, a comment box, a DM box or a connection note. It never clicks Post or Send.

You will see these as steps in the reply, and Copilot asks before using them when the request is ambiguous.

YouTube import

On a YouTube watch page, ask for a post from the video (or right-click → Write a LinkedIn post about this page). The extension opens the transcript, reads it along with the title and description, and attaches it to the chat as the source.

Right-click menu

On any page: select text → Write a LinkedIn post from "…" or Ask LinkAssist about "…". With nothing selected, Write a LinkedIn post about this page uses the page's main text.

5. Buttons the extension adds to LinkedIn

All of these open the panel with the right context attached and a prompt ready:

ButtonWhereChips offered
LinkAssist icon on a postNext to the "…" menu on every feed postWrite my take on this · Draft a comment · Why is this working? · Save to swipe file
Write with LinkAssist / Refine with LinkAssistThe "Start a post" dialogWrite a post for me · Use today's best idea, or Refine my draft · Stronger hook
LinkAssist button in a DMMessagingDraft a reply · Shorter and warmer · Suggest a next step
LinkAssist button on "Add a note"Connection requestDraft a note · Ask for advice · Shared interest
Ask Copilot about this profileProfile action barProfile questions and a connection note

Refine reads the draft you typed, fixes grammar, tightens and formats it in your voice, and puts it back into the composer. DM replies read the last 20 messages of the thread. Invite notes respect LinkedIn's note length limit.

6. Usage meter and notifications

The "…" menu shows your plan (or "Trial · N days left"), posts used this month with a progress bar, Upgrade plan, Fix LinkedIn sync, Open dashboard and Sign out. A banner above the composer warns when 3 or fewer posts remain.

The extension also shows a Chrome notification, Your post is live, when a scheduled post publishes. Clicking it opens the post on LinkedIn.
