Troubleshooting Common Issues

Find solutions to common problems with LinkAssist.

Login & Authentication

Cannot Log In

Symptoms: Login button doesn't work, redirects fail, or you see authentication errors.

Solutions:

  1. Clear browser cache and cookies

    • Go to browser settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data
    • Select "Cookies" and "Cached images and files"
    • Try logging in again
  2. Try incognito/private browsing

    • Open a new incognito window
    • Navigate to linkassist.ai
    • Attempt to log in
  3. Check LinkedIn account status

    • Ensure your LinkedIn account is active
    • Verify you can log into LinkedIn directly
    • Check for any LinkedIn restrictions
  4. Disable browser extensions

    • Some ad blockers or privacy extensions interfere with OAuth
    • Temporarily disable extensions and retry

If issues persist after trying all solutions, contact support@linkassist.ai with your browser version and any error messages.

LinkedIn Connection Expired

Symptoms: "LinkedIn connection expired" message, posts fail to publish.

Solutions:

  1. Go to SettingsConnections
  2. Click "Reconnect LinkedIn"
  3. Complete the OAuth authorization
  4. Verify connection shows as "Active"

Session Keeps Expiring

Symptoms: Frequently logged out, session doesn't persist.

Solutions:

  1. Check that cookies are enabled in your browser
  2. Whitelist linkassist.ai in any cookie-blocking extensions
  3. Avoid using multiple accounts in the same browser
  4. Try a different browser

Post Generation

Posts Not Generating

Symptoms: Generate button doesn't work, loading spinner never stops, or errors appear.

Solutions:

  1. Check subscription status

    • Go to Dashboard → Usage Stats
    • Verify you haven't exceeded monthly limit
    • Upgrade if needed
  2. Verify onboarding is complete

    • Go to Settings → Profile
    • Check that all required fields are filled
    • Re-save your profile
  3. Try a more specific topic

    • Vague topics may fail validation
    • Provide specific, detailed topics
    • Include context or perspective
  4. Check your internet connection

    • Generation requires stable connection
    • AI generation may take 10-15 seconds

Generated Content is Poor Quality

Symptoms: Content doesn't match your style, is generic, or irrelevant.

Solutions:

  1. Update your context

    • Go to Settings → Profile → Edit Context
    • Provide more detailed professional background
    • Add specific topics you cover
  2. Be more specific with topics

    • Include your angle or perspective
    • Add specific examples or data points
    • Mention your target audience
  3. Provide sample posts

    • Link to your best LinkedIn posts
    • Let the AI analyze your actual writing
  4. Use regenerate

    • Click "Regenerate" for a new version
    • Try different tone or format settings

Scheduling & Publishing

Scheduled Posts Not Publishing

Symptoms: Posts stay in "scheduled" status past their publish time.

Solutions:

  1. Check LinkedIn connection

    • Go to Settings → Connections
    • Reconnect if status shows "Expired"
  2. Verify subscription is active

    • Free plan has limited scheduling
    • Check that your plan supports auto-publishing
  3. Check post status

    • Go to Posts or Calendar
    • Look for error indicators
    • Check if post was manually deleted
  4. Review time zone settings

    • Go to Settings → Profile
    • Verify time zone is correct
    • Scheduled times are based on your time zone

Wrong Time Published

Symptoms: Post published at unexpected time.

Solutions:

  1. Check time zone

    • Verify your time zone in Settings
    • Remember daylight saving time changes
  2. Calendar display

    • Calendar shows times in your local zone
    • Actual publish time may differ if zone changed

Duplicate Posts Published

Symptoms: Same content posted twice.

Solutions:

  1. Delete the duplicate from LinkedIn directly
  2. Check if you accidentally scheduled twice
  3. Contact support if it happens repeatedly

Chrome Extension

Extension Not Showing on LinkedIn

Symptoms: No LinkAssist icons appear on LinkedIn.

Solutions:

  1. Verify extension is installed

    • Click the puzzle icon in Chrome toolbar
    • Check that LinkAssist is listed and enabled
  2. Refresh LinkedIn

    • Hard refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
    • Wait for page to fully load
  3. Check you're on linkedin.com

    • Extension only works on linkedin.com domain
    • Not on mobile or other LinkedIn properties
  4. Reinstall extension

    • Remove extension from Chrome
    • Reinstall from Chrome Web Store
    • Log in again

Extension Shows "Not Logged In"

Solutions:

  1. Click the LinkAssist icon in toolbar
  2. Click "Sign In"
  3. Log in with your LinkAssist credentials
  4. Refresh LinkedIn page

AI Comment Button Not Working

Solutions:

  1. Check subscription status (usage limits)
  2. Ensure you're logged into the extension
  3. Clear extension storage:
    • Right-click extension icon → Options
    • Click "Clear Data"
  4. Reinstall if issues persist

Billing & Payments

Payment Failed

Symptoms: Payment doesn't complete, error messages during checkout.

Solutions:

  1. Check card details

    • Verify card number, expiry, CVV
    • Ensure billing address matches card
  2. Check funds

    • Verify sufficient balance
    • Check for any card restrictions
  3. Try different payment method

    • Use UPI, net banking, or different card
    • Some cards block international transactions
  4. Contact your bank

    • Some banks flag new subscriptions as suspicious
    • Pre-authorize the transaction with your bank

Subscription Not Activating

Symptoms: Payment successful but still on Free plan.

Solutions:

  1. Wait 2-3 minutes for processing
  2. Hard refresh the dashboard
  3. Log out and log back in
  4. Check email for payment confirmation
  5. Contact support with transaction ID

Invoice Not Received

Solutions:

  1. Check spam/junk folder
  2. Verify email address in Settings
  3. Download from Settings → Billing → Payment History

Performance Issues

Dashboard Loading Slowly

Solutions:

  1. Clear browser cache
  2. Check internet connection speed
  3. Disable unnecessary browser extensions
  4. Try a different browser
  5. Check if issue is specific to one page

Features Not Loading

Solutions:

  1. Hard refresh the page
  2. Clear cookies for linkassist.ai
  3. Try incognito mode
  4. Check browser console for errors (F12)
