LinkedIn sync
How the extension keeps your profile, posts and analytics in sync with LinkAssist, how often it runs, and how to fix a sync that has stopped.
LinkedIn offers no analytics API to third-party apps, so the extension does the job: while you have LinkedIn open, it reads your own profile, posts and analytics pages and sends them to LinkAssist. That data powers the Dashboard stat cards, Analytics, the Consistency tracker, and the What we observed from LinkedIn section of User DNA.
1. What is synced and when
| Data | Cadence | Used by |
|---|---|---|
| Profile (headline, about, followers, connections) | About once a day | User DNA, Dashboard |
| Your posts and their reactions, comments, reposts | About once a day | Analytics, All Posts (the purple "LinkedIn" status), Frameworks patterns |
| Analytics (impressions, profile views, search appearances) | About once a day | Dashboard, Analytics |
| Performance snapshots of posts published through LinkAssist | Every 2 hours (24h and 7-day checkpoints) | Analytics, "what works for you" |
The first sync starts the first time you open LinkedIn after connecting; a toast says Syncing your LinkedIn profile…. After that it runs quietly in the background whenever a LinkedIn tab is open.
Deliberately gentle
The extension makes at most a handful of LinkedIn requests per day and backs off for a day or two if LinkedIn rate-limits it. It never reads other people's analytics, your messages, or anything you did not trigger.
2. The insights drawer on LinkedIn
A floating LinkAssist insights toggle on every LinkedIn page opens a drawer with the synced numbers: followers and connections, this week's impressions, profile views and engagement rate, your average impressions per post, a 7-day sparkline, your top post, and a quick recommendation based on your posting cadence. A View dashboard button takes you to the web app.
3. Fix LinkedIn sync
Open the side panel's "…" menu → Fix LinkedIn sync to see:
- The last attempt, its time, and for each task whether it succeeded or why not (no LinkedIn tab, daily budget used, scrape failed, upload failed, blocked).
- The next automatic sync time.
- Retry sync to run it now. Keep a LinkedIn tab open.
Recover with Copilot
If LinkedIn changed its layout and the normal scrape fails, Recover with Copilot reads the LinkedIn profile or analytics page you have open, shows you exactly which values it found, and saves nothing until you click Confirm and sync. Partial analytics update your current numbers but never create an incomplete history entry. Posts are not part of this recovery.
Recover with Copilot is available on Growth and above, like the rest of Copilot.
4. Troubleshooting
- Dashboard shows zeros. Install and connect the extension, then open linkedin.com once and leave the tab open for a minute.
- Numbers are a day old. That is normal; most data syncs daily. Use Retry sync if you need it now.
- "Budget" in the sync panel. The day's LinkedIn request allowance is used; it resets automatically.
- "Blocked". LinkedIn rate-limited the extension; it waits 24–48 hours before trying again. Do not install other LinkedIn automation tools alongside it.
- Extension says connected but the web app's Extension page says it is not. Open the web app, sign out and back in, then reload LinkedIn.
